Korea-U.S Free Trade Agreement

Korea-U.S FTA becomes a serious national problem in Korea. There was very noisy last month. I am searching the web for seeing the FTA. I felt that it is more important issue than other issues when we have discussion this class. This is why it has national interest in the future. I think that free trade agreement is absolutely necessary with other countries. However, KORUS FTA has many unfair rules. The plan should be changed a lot following these reasons.

To begin with, we have to take a more long-term view. Also, we should know that we do not get only advantages but it is an illogical system for us. There are 12 unfair rules. For example, if U.S. law collides over Korea-U.S FTA in United States, FTA is neglected but it is reversed in Korea. If Korean law collides over Korea-FTA, Korean law is neglected in Korea. What a foolish law! I know that it is an arrangement between powerful nation and small country but it is despotic. It is unbelievable that the ruling party have permitted this law to go ahead without the acquiescence of the opposition party while some people put on demonstrations protesting the conclusion of the FTA.

In summary, FTA is important agreement and essential. ‘Free trade agreement’ it sounds good. However, this agreement was completely one-sided. Agreement has many one-sided rules. It needs an amendment of the agreement. Of course I do not know well about this issue but I do really worry about that. I hope that Korea-U.S FTA helps us to promote the economy between the two nations.

The women-only cars in the subway

I remember that there were women-only cars in the metro by materials. It was really long time ago. Actually, there is seating for the handicapped in the subway. However, I think that introducing women-only cars are another different necessity. I express my approval for the revival of women-only cars in the subway following these reasons.

To begin with, if it takes effect women-only cars in the subway it is inconvenient as a male for a while because of decreasing space. However, introducing new system this is because it should keep female as a weak person because there are crowded with the people in the subway. For example, sometimes there is sexual harassment in the subway. We can frequently hear that on the news. Introducing the women-only cars would make safe subway from the crimes.

Secondly, male users also feel a slight discomfort when we are using the subway. We should have a care not to avoid misunderstanding in congested train. For example, I had an experience that a woman was standing in front of my seat. I was too embarrassed because she was wearing gaudy clothes. It is an inconvenient truth.

In conclusion, there are many people in the subway so there would be a shameful thing. We need to keep safe subway.  

If there are women-only cars male and female use the subway convenient. How about introducing a new system in the subway? I hope that tries again by reforming the system.  We have to follow the rules also.

Review of Marijuana

I have heard that a lot of negative effects of marijuana or hallucinogen. Also, I have a little bit contrary opinions. I have thought why people take a marijuana and hallucinogen? Sometimes people want to feel different mood when they have difficult experiences. Marijuana addicts know that it has a bad point but why they can’t stop smoking marijuana? Of course, it is because it has a hallucinogenic compound. There are lots of opinions about marijuana but I will tell few views.

First, Smoking marijuana affects people at all especially, in our brain. Habitually taking marijuana, people get passive attitude and they are being changed for personality. Further, they lost the will to live and finally they try to suicide. Of course, those are my negative opinions but it is not just individual problems. It affects also our society.  

Second, smoking marijuana is illegal acts in Korea. It was easy to hear that celebrity takes a hallucinogen. It comes as no surprise. However, a noticeable increase in taking hallucinogen can lead to a criminal act. We will see the unfortunate society.

Third, on the other hand, it has a positive point. Marijuana is being used in medicines now days and also long time ago. It helps patients’ digestion better and do relieve pain.

In short, I express my disapproval for taking marijuana because it has many negative points. I think that marijuana affects individual and society but it has a good effect on health. It could be the best medicine from medicine research.  

Review of Animal Experiment

There are a lot of disputes in animal experiments. It is often said that animal experiment is useful to us. However, I think animal experiment is very dangerous for below reasons. Man is by nature a political animal. We have our life and animal is identical with us. Animals also have thinking, feeling, suffering. Also, it is not proved that animal experiment’s result is the same in experiment of human.

First of all, animal has life. We call respect for life but why we do this experiment using the animals. Animal is not living organism? Animal have a right to do live. For human’s profits, why they are using for experiments?

Secondly, do you know how they are being experimented? They usually die a slow and painful death. A lot of animals have died from these experiments. It is really horrible things. Moreover, the experiment is not resulted in the way we expected.

To sum up, too many animals are dying from the experiments now. We can find the solutions that there are alternative experiments. They could try experiments by using cells and lowly members of nature’s kingdom. For example, there are monads, fishes and amphibians. Low organisms usually don’t feel painful well because they have a short memory. Actually many helpful medicines have made from the animal experiments. However, we should remember that there are some side effects and it is very little sharing of disease between human and animals. In the future, I hope there are no animal experiments.

SSM

We can hear the news about SSM easily. Big supermarkets and small supermarkets have a lot of disputes. To small businesses it is a matter of life and death. Like this, The Huge supermarkets have a matter of expanding itself. Actually, we can’t not easily find grocery store these days. They definitely have affected by big markets. Because People also have many choices where to buy products, customers do not go to small supermarkets. I agree with that it needs to take sanctions against SSM a little. However, grocery stores should try hard to survive from tough competition.

To enhance competitiveness of small supermarkets, government has to watch illegal situations of SSM or big companies. Also, Customers visit to small supermarkets sometimes and it will help them. Not only small supermarkets but also traditional markets have in difficulties for competition. When I need to buy some products, I usually went to supermarkets. I remember there were 3 supermarkets near my home before SSM is appeared. After many people went to SSM, only 1 supermarket is alive now. It’s a story for 10 years. I feel it is really hard competition.

SSM and grocery store or supermarkets, they each have their own opinions. I think it is right opinions because of surviving from competition or expanding their markets. To protect grocery stores, it is necessary to taking punish against SSM a little but small stores have to try harder than now.

Design Seoul

Design Seoul
We have discussed about Design Seoul last Friday. I actually didn’t know well what is Desgin Seoul? I only have heard about this policy and I just have seen that when I walking through the road in Seoul. The differences exist about Desgin Seoul. Some people go along with a this policy and the other people entirely doesn’t agree with this plan. We can walk the clean street in Seoul and we can see new buildings. It makes a good impression for citizens and foreigners. However, it needs big budget. Seoul City spent so much money about this project already.
I heard that Design Seoul’s main strategy is caring for citizens. Wow. It sounds really nice. I think it’s important for us as a citizen. I really hope that It helps our life. A few people have a good memory on Han-river renaissance. Seoul city made many parks in waterside and a lot of people goes to park everyday. There is a conflict of opinion on Dongdaemun Design Plaza. It was designed by foreign architect designer. It’s under construction now. It will be famous building when DDP completes. However, where is old building now?
There is a bitter dispute on Design Seoul projects. I think it needs a tough choice. I Approve of  this policy but it needs to correct mistakes in this project. I hope that new mayor has a good way to make a beautiful city in the world.
